On 13 August, 2015, Nawaz Sharif, Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, arrived at the construction site of the E-35 Expressway Project by his special plane for inspection, accompanied by Chairman of National Highway Authority of Pakistan and Project Managers of Lot I & II of the E-35 Project.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was satisfied with the progress of the two Lots and expressed his thanks to CGGC's personnel and the local employees engaged in the project. He said that the E-35 Expressway Project, as a key part in the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, would link Pakistan to China moreclosely and promote the economy of Pakistan in a positive and healthy direction after its completion.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif stated that the Federal Government would fully support the construction of the E-35 Expressway Project. Meanwhile, he also required that all parties engaged in the construction should ensure the scheduled progress and completion of the Project.
The E-35 Expressway with a total length of 160 km, located in Khyber Pashto Province in the northwest of Pakistan, is part of Pakistan's National Trade Corridor Improvement Program (NTCIP), starting from Hassan Abdal in the south and ending at Havelian in the north. The project, planned to be completed within 24 months, will greatly ease traffic congestion on the Karakoram Highway, promote local people's livelihood and boost the economic development in areas surrounding E-35 Expressway upon its completion.
