Political advisers urged strengthening cyclic city construction to maintain Zhanjiang's ecological advantages in development.

The Zhanjiang Committee of Jiusan Society, a renowned democratic group in China, submitted the proposal during the annual meeting of the CPPCC’s Zhanjiang Committee, the political advisory body of Zhanjiang.

The proposal listed many “practicable” suggestions for implementing the “cyclic city” concept, such as holding various promotion events, strengthening the enterprise’s consciousness of social responsibility and environmental protection by launching specially-designed courses for entrepreneurs, and promoting and improving existing efficient cyclic economic pattern.

Zhanjiang is renowned for its superior ecological environment. The annual average PM2.5 ranking list released by the Ministry of Environmental Protection put Zhanjiang at the fifth place among 190 surveyed cities in China.

Yin Chang, a political advisor, said that although Zhanjiang enjoyed good air quality, its ecological environment was still threatened by pollution from the illegal disposal of sewerage by some small and medium-sized enterprises, the corporate managers' weak environmental awareness, and the poor implementation of environment monitoring work.
