The wind power plant with an installed capacity of 49.5 megawatt, has completed the installation of 10 wind turbines, and the plant is expected to put into operation formally in April.
The Nansan Wind Power Farm is the first large-scale wind farm located on the beach in China with an expected generating capacity of 100 million kWH, equivalent to 36,300 tons of coal consumed by the thermal power plant.
The construction of this wind farm is part of efforts by the municipal government to develop renewable energy and build Zhanjiang into a ‘Sustainable City’, according to the 2015 government work report delivered by Zhanjiang mayor Wang Zhongbing during this year's municipal legislative session.
Zhanjiang will give priority to developing new energy to preserve its reputation as an ecological city, according to Wang Zhongbing.
