A 350-ton steel converter developed by Baosteel Group started operation in the Zhanjiang Baosteel Base on June 12.

The converter is the largest one in China and is the core equipment to the steel base in Zhanjiang.

Wang Zhongbing, mayor of Zhanjiang, accompanied by Sheng Genghong, general manager of Baosteel Zhanjiang Steel Co Ltd, attended the launch ceremony.

Wang praised the staff's unity and hard work to develop the converter over the past 24 months. They have made great contribution to both Baosteel and Zhanjiang, he added.
