Zhanjiang will hold the 2015 Guangdong (Zhanjiang) Tea Tourism Expo at the Zhanjiang International Convention and Exhibition Center in Zhanjiang, Guangdong province, from Sept 18 to 22.
The expo is aimed at spreading Zhanjiang's city tea culture and promoting tea business and trade. There will be specially-designated exhibition areas and booths to provide wider choices for visitors and tea traders. Famous tea products including Oolong, black tea, green tea, dark green tea, white tea, yellow tea and flower tea will be on display at the expo, along with cultural performances and interactive activities such as making purple clay teapots and frying tea.
An exhibition area displaying redwood furniture, root carving, and paintings and calligraphy works will be open to visitors, alongside tea products, tea sets and purple clay appliances. Tea trades and enthusiasts will be able to make one-stop shopping at reasonable prices at the expo.
As the mid-autumn festival is fast approaching, the expo will also have a moon cake trade fair for visitors to purchase festive goods.
The tea expo, held by Zhanjiang government and the city's tourism and agriculture department, is an important part of the campaign to promote the "Zhanjiang Ocean Week" and develop the city's coastal tourism. In 2014, the tea expo made considerable success with over 80,000 visitors and the signed contracts valued nearly 100 million yuan ($15.7 million).
