Zhanjiang-EU trade volume creates new high

The value of imports and exports between Zhanjiang and the European Union (EU) has reached a new high in 2015. Total value was 3.01 billion yuan ($457.52 million), up 44 percent compared to a year ago, according to the city's customs office.
According to the government body, the value accounted for 9.4 percent of the total import and export trade volume of the city in 2015.
The value of imports from the EU to Zhanjiang reached 1.62 billion yuan in 2015, rising by 35.8 percent, while the export value from Zhanjiang jumped 54.8 percent to 1.39 billion yuan.
General trade import and export between Zhanjiang and the EU reached 2.74 billion yuan, up 55.6 percent while the processing trade import and export totaled 230 million yuan.
The import and export trade volumes of State-owned enterprises in Zhanjiang increased by 47.6 percent to 1.42 billion yuan while those for private enterprises surged 72.5 percent to 730 million yuan. Foreign-funded enterprises secured 860 million yuan in 2015, up 21.8 percent.
Among the imports and exports, furniture exports and machinery equipment imports both soared in 2015, as both sectors multiplied about 1.6 folds.
