A group of influential netizens were invited to the Zhanjiang-ASEAN Agriculture Trade Fair on June 4, in order to promote the achievements of the international event to a wider audience.

During the fair, the netizens were all impressed by the products displayed at the ASEAN exhibition area and in the Zhanjiang exhibition hall.

"The fair demonstrates the development level of Zhanjiang's agriculture and I hope that the city government can organize more events like this to promote Zhanjiang's agricultural products to a wider audience," remarked one of the netizens.

Zhang Yumei, associate professor of the Party school of Zhanjiang committee of the Communist Party, said, "Zhanjiang is an agricultural city in Guangdong province, and to host such an event will improve its influence in the development of modern agriculture and its exhibition economy."

As one of the strategic pivot cities along the National Belt and Road Initiative, Zhanjiang is embracing development opportunities to strengthen its economic and trade cooperative ties with ASEAN countries, Zhang added.

The Zhanjiang-ASEAN Agriculture Fair is the first international fair of its kind to be held in the city. Kicking off on June 2, the four-day event attracted 180,000 visitors and saw a staggering 2.57 billion yuan ($389.7 million) worth of agreements signed.

Various activities were held during the fair, including a drone summit, a Cross-straits agriculture tourism forum and a seminar on innovation development in agriculture.
