Zhanjiang to draw on crowd support of innovation
Updated: 2016-10-10
Zhanjiang is joining an effort to support the Mass Entrepreneurship and Innovation Week advocated by the Guangdong government, which will start on Oct 12 at the Zhanjiang International Convention and Exhibition Center.
The city plans to facilitate innovation and entrepreneurship by promoting crowd innovation, crowd sourcing, crowd support, and crowd funding. The city government has paid much attention to the events and put forward several suggestions at a meeting held on Oct 8.
Mayor Wang Zhongbing urged the related departments to continue guiding and supporting the innovative and entrepreneurial talents in terms of venues and finance.
More comprehensive resources should be explored for start-ups. For example, deserted factories are being transformed into fully-equipped office facilities.
Officials are also trying to draw in venture capital and private capital investments to share in the innovative progress. The construction of the city's innovation base "South Sea Valley" will be accelerated, opening more investment opportunities for these promising programs.
In addition, Wang called for more enthusiastic participation from a wide range of organizations, especially colleges, universities, and research institutions.
The Mass Entrepreneurship and Innovation Week will encompass various innovation-themed activities including forums to share industry pioneering experience, lectures on e-commerce, and promotion events for Internet Plus-based innovation projects.
The series of events will be organized in response to the national call for crowd innovation, aimed at counting on entrepreneurship and innovation to generate new jobs and further the economic transformation.
