Guangdong Tea Tourism Expo to take place in Zhanjiang
Updated: 2017-11-17
The 2017 Guangdong (Zhanjiang) Tea Tourism Expo is set to take place at the Zhanjiang International Convention Center from Dec 13 to 17.
High Mountain tea, Tie Guanyin, Pu'er, Dragon Well, Biluochun, Maofeng, Maojian and more will be classified into categories of oolong, black tea, green tea, dark green tea, white tea and yellow tea, and displayed at the event.
Local famous tea brands including Minghuang tea, Mingshangming, Huahai, Minghe, Laofumao and Huguang tea will also be featured. In difference with the old practice of displaying them individually, this year's expo will put them in groups to make more of a name for themselves.
Support activities include a day trip to tea plantations in Zhanjiang, a promotion conference for rural tourism, forums on tea and health, as well as tea art performances, aiming to promote local tourism.
Tea-themed tourism, which covers the sightseeing of tea plantations, picking tea leaves, performing tea art and tasting tea-flavored food, is flourishing in the city alongside the vigorous development of the tea planting and processing industries.
The annual expo has been held by Zhanjiang Municipal Government eight times since 2009. It not only serves as a grand gathering themed around tea, but is also helping the city turn itself into a demonstration city for coastal tourism.
