Fangchenggang launches environment and health week

The launch ceremony of 2015 China Environment and Health Awareness Week (Guangxi district) was held at Taohuawan Square in Fangchenggang on the morning of June 6.

The activity was sponsored by the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Regional Committee of the Chinese Peasants' and Workers' Democratic Party. Peng Zhao, vice chairman of the Guangxi People’s Political Consultative Conference, announced the official opening.

With the theme of "Construct a beautiful new countryside, create a healthy new life", various kinds of activities were held during the awareness week. Professional medical staff gave free treatment and health consultations. Display boards and videos about environmental protection raised local residents' environmental consciousness and helped to promote Fangchenggang's ecological civilization.

The China Environment and Health Awareness Week was first co-sponsored by nine government bodies in 2008 and this is its eighth year. The activity aims to publicize the concept of harmonious development of humans and nature, strengthen the whole people's ecological and environmental consciousness, advocate a healthy social atmosphere and construct a green China.
