A total of 6,222 local residents of Fangchenggang in Guangxi voluntarily donated blood in the first three quarters of 2015, 499 people more than the same period last year.
Fangchenggang's health and family planning commission has taken multiple measures since the beginning of this year to collect voluntarily donated blood to guarantee necessary blood supplies for clinical use and people’s health and safety.
In the first nine months, the total blood donation amounted to more than 2 million milliliters and 1,332 people donated blood to their relatives or friends in emergencies. The blood-supply quantity for clinic application reached 1.96 million milliliters with an increase of 92,000 milliliters over the same period last year.
The blood component transfusion rate, one of the most important indexes to judge the medical technical level of a region or nation, reached 100 percent in Fangchenggang. The city has realized 100 percent rate for blood needed for clinical use coming from volunteer blood donations for 10 consecutive years in a row.
