Bainiao Cave |
Bainiao Cave (“100 birds”) is at the foot of Mozhai Mountain. The Panyang River comes out of the ground at this cave, after flowing underground 1,000 meters from White Bear Cave in the village of Jitun, then flows into the Hongshui River. The entrance is 50 meters wide, with a stone wall dividing the entrance into two sections, the left one 40 meters wide and 15 meters high. The zigzagging pathway into the cave runs 500 meters and joins another cave at a side entrance, at the foot of a depression at the other end of the same mountain where the White Bear Cave is found. The widest place is about 40 meters and the narrowest, 10 meters. Tourists can take a boat from the entrance and, 300 meters away, can see a circular skylight 30 meters above the water.
When the light reaches the water surface, it looks like a spotlight on the stage. There are numerous minor caves and bypaths inside, resembling a beehive, and a beach near the right section of the entrance, where boats can land. To the right of the beach is a 30-sq-m stone platform and, to one side there is a snowy white wall that can be climbed. There are many stone columns, curtains and figures of different shapes and so many things to see that the eyes are always occupied.
