Hechi Municipal Commission of Tourism Development has asked its travel agencies to arrange vehicles for Hechi tourists stuck in the quake-hit Jiuzhaigou county of Sichuan province.

After the 7-magnitude earthquake struck Jiuzhaigou at 9:19 pm on Aug 8, the commission initiated emergency plans and contacted all local travel agencies to confirm the safety of Hechi tourists in Jiuzhaigou. To date, no injuries have been reported.

There were two travel agencies from Hechi leading tour groups to Jiuzhaigou at the time of the quake. As of Aug 9, all the eight tourists from the groups had been confirmed safe.

The commission said that it is currently working on collecting information of Hechi self-driving tourists to the quake-hit area.

Officials from the Hechi tourism department also issued travel warnings for Jiuzhaigou in the coming days.

Hechi is located in the northwestern part of Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region and the southern foothills of the Yungui Plateau.
