Dahua Yao autonomous county in Hechi, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region has been promoting the "joint construction, breeding, and planting" model for poverty alleviation through industrial development in recent years.

The model, based on poverty alleviation workshops, aims to improve the self-development capacity of impoverished people, as well as consistently increase their incomes and lift them out of poverty.

Since the model was applied in the county, 125 million yuan ($17.77 million) has been invested into the construction of poverty alleviation workshops and the development of poverty alleviation industries.

It is estimated that after the competition of all the poverty alleviation workshops, about 8,600 poverty-stricken households and 43,000 poor people can receive the benefits from the workshops.

The coverage of poverty alleviation industries will reach 100 percent across the county by the end of 2020. The annual net income of impoverished people from the poverty alleviation workshops is expected to reach more than 2,000 yuan by 2020, while the collective net income of the poor villages will reach more than 50,000 yuan.
