In recent years, Yizhou district in Hechi has been boosting the construction of village libraries to meet the spiritual and cultural needs of villagers, as well as fuel the district's poverty alleviation efforts.

To date, the "village library" project has covered 210 villages in Yizhou's 16 townships, with a coverage rate of 100 percent.

Boasting more than over 389,000 books on policy, technology, art, literature, philosophy, and education, the village libraries allow rural residents to take in relative poverty alleviation policies, bolster their learning of culture and science, as well as improve moral and cultural standards.

"The scene of everyone reading together often happens at our village library," said Wei Yongqiu, Party secretary of Weicun village in Yizhou. "Reading some books to learn about preferential policies and ways to increase income is of great value to lifting ourselves out of poverty."

Hechi is located in the northwestern part of Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region and the southern foothills of the Yungui Plateau.
