The Rongshui-Hechi Expressway has officially entered the countdown to its opening, with only 81 days left to the deadline of Nov 28, 2020.
By the end of August 2020, the project had attracted investment of 8.76 billion yuan ($1.28 billion), accounting for 80 percent of the total investment of 10.95 billion yuan.
The Rongshui-Hechi Expressway is an important part of Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region's expressway network planning. It is funded by Guangxi Xinfazhan Communication Group and undertaken by Guangxi Road Construction Engineering Group.
It will be an important part of the transit passage from western Chinese regions such as Sichuan and Chongqing to Guangxi and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. It will also be a convenient channel between Guizhou province and northern and central Guangxi cities such as Guilin, Liuzhou, Hechi and Hezhou.
The expressway starts near Hongling village, Tantou township in Rong'an county and ends in Desheng town, Yizhou district in Hechi. It is 105.69 kilometers long and has seven interchanges, including Hongling, Hemu, Xiaochang'an, Luocheng, Tianhe, Anma and Quancun village.
The main line is constructed as a two-way four-lane highway, with a roadbed width of 26 meters and a design speed of 100 km/h. It is expected to be completed and opened on schedule.
