The Hechi delegation to the fourth session of the 13th Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Regional People's Congress - which kicked off in Nanning, capital of Guangxi, on Jan 21 - has made a total of 68 suggestions.

These suggestions, being both high in quality and quantity, focused on pressing issues spanning the effective cohesion between poverty alleviation and rural revitalization, reform and development, infrastructure construction and environmental protection, as well as business environment optimization.

Two of the suggestions were selected as major suggestions for the meeting. One of these was the planning and construction of an intercity high-speed railway linking Baise, Hechi, Liuzhou and Hezhou, and the other one was focused on the construction of a 100 million yuan ($15.45 million)-level industrial park for new nonferrous metal materials in Hechi's Nandan county.

Lan Haizhou, head of Bama Yao autonomous county, and Qin Kelun, director of the Hechi service center for major projects, made a suggestion that the Shenzhen-Bama pilot zone project should be included in the region's overall plan for the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25), in order to push forward high-quality socio-economic development in Bama and nearby counties such as Donglan and Fengshan counties.

The Shenzhen-Bama pilot zone, being a major joint poverty alleviation project between Guangdong province and Guangxi, is an important platform for Guangdong and Guangxi to participate in the construction of the Belt and Road Initiative, the Pearl River-Xijiang River Economic Belt and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

It is expected that the construction of the pilot zone will help enhance regional cooperation between Shenzhen and Hechi, optimize industrial layout, speed up poverty alleviation as well as achieve coordinated and mutual development.

Xu Dike, head of Donglan county, suggested that the construction of the expressway connecting south Yizhou to Leye via Donglan and Fengshan will make great contributions to the revitalization of the Zuojiang and Youjiang rivers revolutionary base and support Guangxi's construction in forming a new transportation pattern.

Hechi is located in the northwestern part of Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region and the southern foothills of the Yungui Plateau.
