Bama Yao autonomous county in Hechi has issued a series of preferential policies and introduced a number of leading enterprises in recent years to benefit the rapid development of its animal husbandry industry.

Located in Zimao village of Yandong town, the Bama well-bred sheep ecological circulation breeding base covers an area of 140 mu (9 hectares), with a total investment of 50 million yuan ($7.69 million).

"The base's annual output value is expected to exceed 100 million yuan after it reaches full operation. It can offer job opportunities for more than 80 people and bring along 2,800 people from 700 households in the county to participate in the mutton sheep industry," said Li Xuede, the general manager of the base.

In addition, the base is set to build a modern agriculture demonstration zone at the autonomous region level in 2021, as well as a national ecological mutton sheep demonstration base featuring sheep breeding, scientific research, and science popularization.

Enterprises raising pigs or cattle have clustered in groups in towns like Dongshan, Xishan, and Suolue. These leading enterprises have constantly improved the ability of standardization, scale production, and industrialization, driving the surroundings to scale farming.

"We provide subsidies to breeding enterprises or farmers in infrastructure construction and agricultural insurance, stabilizing animal husbandry production and the supply," said Shen Dongping, the head of the Dongshan country husbandry management station.

Hechi is located in the northwestern part of Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region and the southern foothills of the Yungui Plateau.
