Guangxi's Hechi began construction of a batch of projects on March 26, with the aim of improving local people's livelihoods.

The cultural tourism complex in Yizhou district, one of the district's second batch of major projects during the first quarter of 2021, will cover a total area of 268.65 mu (17.91 hectares).

The project will apply the Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) model with an overall investment of around 1.2 billion yuan ($183.4 million).

The complex is scheduled to be built in two phases, with a total construction period of five years. The first phase of the complex will be a sports center, covering a total area of nearly 20,000 square meters and featuring facilities such as a swimming pool, a cinema, an outdoor sports square and parking lots.

Construction of an international business exhibition city in Yizhou has also been started. This project is expected to become a smart hub for commerce and logistics with functions such as modern wholesale, retail and e-commerce businesses.

The project will cover a total area of around 200 mu, with investment reaching 2 billion yuan.

In addition, on the same day, Huanjiang Maonan autonomous county welcomed a new energy project from the Guangxi branch of China Huaneng Group Co Ltd, with a total investment of around 10 billion yuan.

Hechi is located in the northwestern part of Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region and the southern foothills of the Yungui Plateau.
