Southwest China's Guizhou province will be committed in developing ecological civilization while boosting industrialization at the same time, a government official said Saturday.

Zhao Kezhi, the deputy secretary of the CPC Guizhou provincial committee and provincial governor announced the commitment during an international conference called the Eco-Forum Guiyang (EFG).

More than 600 scientists and officials exchanged opinions on synchronous development for ecological civilization and industrialization at the conference.

Zhao revealed ecological civilization is the product of the highly developed modern industry.

"We should adhere to the approach in developing economy and society, under the concept of ecological civilization," he said. "They are not contradictory but harmonious."

Zhao added the province should also strive to develop eco-agriculture, eco-industry, eco-tourism in establishing an eco-city, with modern industry, modern agriculture, green urbanization and low-carbon emission.

"For Guizhou, a region lacking in land and freshwater, a less-developed mountainous province with low-speed development who yet has a large population in poverty, we need to not only maintain the current efficiency, but also to narrow the gap between Guizhou and other developed regions," he said.

Guizhou will also accelerate development in consolidating the result and improve residents' living by ensuring the achievements already acquired.
