The 2012 Guiyang Hot Spring Season opening ceremony wows audiences on October 29 in Guiyang.

The 2012 Guiyang Hot Spring Season, a winter tourism promotion activity, was officially launched on Oct 29 in Guiyang, capital of southwest China’s Guizhou province.

Guiyang has rich hot spring resources and several well-known hot spring scenic spots.

Travel information in Guiyang will be published in print and online media to inform visitors and readers. The Hot Spring Season this year is themed health preservation; its slogan is “Here’s a Warm Winter for You”. The activity will last until next April. As part of the program, Guiyang will launch a series of hot spring activities.

Guiyang Mayor Li Zaiyong addressed the opening ceremony. According to Li, the local authority has made developing Guiyang into a globally-known tourist destination a top priority. He believes that the activities of Hot Spring Season will contribute to further promotion of Guiyang’s image in the world.

Guiyang had received over 57 million annual tourists from home and abroad as of this September, realizing total revenue of 77 billion yuan, a year-on-year growth of 42 percent and 54 percent, respectively, Li said.
