Guizhou will begin construction of provincial wetland parks in 2013, with 30 wetland parks to be established by 2030, said the Guizhou Provincial Forestry Department, Guizhou Daily reported.
Guizhou organized its first investigation of wetland resources in 1995, representing the initiation of wetland conservation in Guizhou. In 2010, the State Forestry Administration promulgated the Regulation of the Management of National Westland Parks (Trial), aiming to improve the public sense of wetland conservation.
In the same year, Guizhou announced the Medium-Term and Long-Term Plan for the Conservation of Wetland in Guizhou, making it explicit that 12 national wetland parks and 18 provincial wetland parks will be established by 2030.
Currently, the national wetland parks in Tongren Shiqian Yuanyang Lake and Weining Suohuangcang have been approved to begin construction by the State Forestry Administration. National wetland parks in Liupanshui Ming Lake and Yuqing Feilong Lake are waiting for approval.
The construction of wetland parks in 2013 will elevate the wetland conservation level in Guizhou, forming a provincial wetland conservation network.
