The major part of construction for 22,700 new affordable houses for ecological migrants has been completed as of Dec 31, 2012, assuring that 101,300 migrants can move into the new houses in the first half of 2013, said the Leading Group Office of the Poverty Alleviation and Ecological Migration Project of Guizhou.
Approximately 1.9 million square meters of housing has been completed on 180 concentrated shelters in 2012. The project covers 86,300 people in three major poverty-stricken areas, 85.2 percent of the total migrant population.
