Zhao Kezhi, deputy to the NPC, secretary of the CPC Guizhou Provincial Committee and director of the Standing Committee of the Guizhou Provincial Congress, talked on March 6 about the development of Kweichow Moutai and the white wine industry in Guizhou and how they could be affected by policies preventing the misuse of public funds.

Guizhou firmly supports the policy of the CPC Central Committee of practicing frugality and preventing misuse of public funds, said Zhao Kezhi. Guizhou has always forbidden CPC committees and governments at all levels in Guizhou from consuming high-end white wines at ordinary official receptions. The enforcement and implementation of such policies will be further strengthened in the future.

Moutai is a national treasure contributing to the economic and social development of Guizhou and China, said Zhao Kezhi. Sales income for the Moutai Group have increased by 14 percent so far this year. In addition, Moutai is categorized into three different levels: high-end, intermediate and low-end. There are options that fit ordinary customers. The policy of preventing misuse of public funds of the Central Committee does not contradict the normal production and operation of Moutai.

The white wine industry led by Moutai has always been a major industry of competitive strength in Guizhou. The output volume of the white wine industry has increased by 31.7 percent in 2012, accounting for 16.6 percent of the added value of the provincial industrial economy and 19 percent of the contribution rate of the growth of the provincial industrial economy. The CPC Guizhou Provincial Committee and the provincial government will support the development of the white wine industry as before, Zhao Kezhi added.
