The Guiyang environment monitoring team signed the Agreement of Project Targets and Responsibility with 43 polluting enterprises in Guiyang city, Guizhou province, on May 3.
The agreement stipulates how to deal with dangerous waste and identifies enterprise responsibilities in rain sewage diversion, emissions, and direct blowdown of mixed rain water and sewage.
The agreement can help enterprises reduce pollution right from its source and pave the way for Guiyang to become a national model city in environmental protection in 2013.
As a city whose economy relies on exploiting natural resources, Guiyang has faced significant environmental problems as a result of development. It will benefit the national environment if Guiyang takes measures to deal with pollution. On December 17, the plan for Guiyang to build a national ecological protection model city from 2012 to 2020 was approved by the National Development and Reform Commission.
