Guizhou's tourism revenue hits 2.49b yuan on Dragon Boat Festival

The Dragon Boat Festival holiday generated tourism revenues of 2.49 billion yuan ($405.7 million), a year-on-year growth of 24.62 percent. A total of 5.06 million tourists visited Guizhou, a year-on-year growth of 22.47 percent, reported the Guizhou Provincial Tourism Administration.

Dragon Boat Festival occurs just after the National College Entrance Examination. Many students choose to travel to relieve the pressure from the recently-finished examination.

Various cities in Guizhou held colorful folk cultural festivals to promote leisure tourism. Tongren city held a dragon boat race on the Jinjiang River, Wujiang River and Songjiang River. Zhenyuan city held the 2013 "Colorful Guizhou" Festival, and Huangping held tok panjang (a traditional dinner) during the festival.
