Outdated production capacity weeded out in Guizhou

Guizhou has weeded out outdated production capacity of 19.82 million tons from 2010 to 2012, more than the requirement by the central government, said the Guizhou Provincial Commission of Economy and Information Technology on July 3, 2013.

The plan for this year is to weed out 9.56 million tons.

Guizhou has strengthened the work of weeding out outdated production capacity in typical industries such as metallurgy and construction materials and promoted technology and equipment upgrading during the past years.

In addition, Guizhou also provides rewards to enterprises that have weeded out outdated production capacities. The rewards distributed in 2012 reached 340 million yuan ($55.45 million).

Meanwhile, Guizhou also helps leading enterprises progress and develop deep and intensive processing of natural resources such as coal, phosphorus and aluminum.

In accordance with the plan, the industrial elements security and coupling capability will have been greatly elevated by 2015. The total production volume of integrated industry in Guizhou will reach 420 billion yuan ($68.5 billion).
