Guizhou province suffered rainfall weather starting June 2 during the flood season in 2014. As of June 4, a total of 33 counties suffered flood disasters.
Early estimates showed the disaster affected 1.04 million people and 7,559 houses. It resulted in direct losses of around $342 million, according to the Guizhou Provincial Department of Civil Affairs.

According to statistics, five people died and two others remained missing after the disaster in Shiqian county, Tongren city, Guizhou province.
After the disaster, the Guizhou Provincial Department of Civil Affairs and Ministry of Civil Affairs sent 2 million yuan ($319,806) and 1,000 tents to people in severely affected areas.
