A couple from Guizhou province traveled nearly 650 km to Chongqing to place their son on a local body donation waiting list, Dahe Daily reported.

Qiu Peiliang, the boy's father, said, "It will be great to help other people."

His 4-year-old son was diagnosed with a brain tumor last year. After visiting different hospitals around the country, Qiu and his wife have given up on treatment.

"There was a great possibility of a recurrence after surgery," Qiu said. "The surgery carried risks and my son may have been left paralyzed or unable to speak."

Guizhou has no body donation waiting list, so the couple traveled to Chongqing.

The family, which has checked into a small hotel to await the son's death, occasionally takes him sightseeing.

"My son once asked me why we moved so frequently and said he could not remember his home," Qiu said, breaking into tears.

"I cannot answer him. I can only say 'I don't know where your home is, but perhaps this will be your last stop'."
