Qianxinan: 25 enterprises get penalties for pollution discharge

The Qianxinan Bouyei and Miao Autonomous Prefecture Environmental Protection Conference has been told that 25 enterprises involving illegal pollution discharge are under investigation, and leaders of 12 enterprises have been questioned.

The vice governor of the Qianxinan Bouyei and Miao Autonomous Prefecture, Zhou Dengfeng made a speech at the conference and published anti-pollution achievements to date.

So far, five crystal polishing factories have been banned and closed down. 363 manufacturers' pollution discharge procedures are under examination. 25 of these have been given administrative penalties up to a total of 150,000 yuan ($ 24,168.79).

Zhou said at the conference that looking back at the first half of 2014, big progress had been made in anti-pollution. We shall summarize the experiences we have had and put more effort into the governance of the enterprises' illegal pollution discharge activities, from the aspect of the construction of environmental facilities, the power of environmental advertising and campaigning, and the strength of investigation and examination, he said.

Attention should be given to water, air and soil pollution and the governance should include zero tolerance.

After the conference, leaders of the 12 enterprises involved in illegal pollution discharge activities were questioned and attended lectures on environmental laws.
