Southwest's largest herbal medicines and fresh product market will be built in Longli county, Guizhou province. It is under construction, covering an area of 400 mu (26.7 hectares).
By April next year, half the country's fresh Chinese herbal medicines will be gathered in the market, said Shen Ming, president of Shenzhen Oriental Hongji International Investment Co.
As one of the four main growing areas of herbal medicine in China, Guizhou province is a main growing district of tianma, eucommia and evodia, possessing 3,927 species of medicinal plants, 289 species of medicinal animals and 78 kinds of medicinal minerals.
Shen Ming said 2,000 pharmaceutical traders will set business in the market, including some well-known pharmaceutical companies such as Beijing Tong Ren Tang Group, Guizhou Bailing Pharmaceutical Industry Co, and Guizhou Yibai Pharmaceutical Co.
