A book expo with the theme of traditional Chinese culture will be held in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, in October, the organizer announced in Beijing last Wednesday.
From Oct 16 to 18, the Confucian Academy Book Exhibition of Traditional Chinese Culture will present a wide range of publications on Chinese classics, including traditional culture studies, Chinese philosophy and literature studies, as well as the popular Confucianism series, to promote modern-day understanding of Chinese cultural roots.
According to the organizers, Guizhou Provincial Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television, Guangming Daily and Guiyang government, the expo will provide a free exhibition space of 5,000 square meters and 1,000 stands for publishers around China to showcase their products of traditional culture, and organize seminars for scholars in this field to exchange ideas.
The exhibition will divided into 11 different zones, including areas for digital publications and performance areas for traditional Chinese music, calligraphy and seal cutting.
"To hold the exhibition on Chinese classics is to provide a platform for the revival of traditional Chinese culture," says He Li, the vice-governor of Guizhou province, who spoke at the launching ceremony. "I believe the exhibition will further promote the prosperity of the publishing on Chinese classics, and expand the influence of Chinese culture."
The exhibition will take place in the Confucian Academy, which was founded in 2013 and serves as an academic center for studies on Confucianism and traditional Chinese culture.
In the last two years, the academy has successfully founded Confucian Academy Press, published a bilingual Chinese thoughts and culture review Confucian Academy quarterly, and launched a website.
