Guizhou provincial officials told participants at the 1st International Mountain Tourism Conference in the city of Xingyi, Guizhou that they want to make the province a world-famous mountain tourism site, on Oct 10.

Addressing the opening ceremony of the gathering, the governor, Chen Min'er explained, "With its natural advantages, Guizhou has huge space for the mountain tourism, so we are making every effort to develop it, and integrate it with our distinctive ethnic culture and ecology."
Chen went on to say that the province also has good conditions for related mountain tourism products in the areas of health and lifestyle, summer resorts, mountain sports and auto camping.
The two-day conference's theme was "Mountain tourism, Green movement", and its aim was to promote mountain tourism destinations and eco tourism models and find more workable development mode. It also included other events such as a tourism culture promotion and mountain tourism experience activities, some of which will last until November.
Xingyi sits at the junction of the Guangxi Zhuang autonomous prefecture, Yunnan and Guizhou province and is known for its scenery and pleasant climate. Its Wanfenglin Mountain is one of the Top 100 best summer resort areas in China.
