The major tourist sites around the city of Anshun, in Guizhou province saw a record number of visitors during the New Year holiday, Jan 1 - 3, with 654,800 people bringing in 229 million yuan($35 million) in revenues, a 27.3-percent increase over the same last year period.

The city has always been popular with travelers from China and abroad, thanks to its nature and attractive scenery, including Huangguoshu Waterfall, Asia's largest, and Dragon Palace, one of the world's largest group of caves, and its 600-year-old villages.

Anshun received 31.76 million tourists in all of 2014, generating 30.7 billion yuan in revenues.
