Guizhou's capital of Guiyang played host to the 7th Cross-Straits Chinese Characters Festival, on Sept 26.
The opening ceremony was held in the morning and started with performances of singing and dancing. Calligraphers and artists from the mainland and Taiwan attended the ceremony, using the opportunity to share their opinions on arts and Chinese culture.
The festival has an exhibition of calligraphy works created by artists from across the Straits, and seal cuttings of different varieties are also on display.
The event was held to increase cultural exchanges between the mainland and Taiwan, and promote traditional Chinese culture, especially the art of calligraphy.
