A sugar cane processing factory in the Qianxinan Bouyei and Miao autonomous prefecture has been helping farmers earn some extra income since it opened in July.
The 30 million yuan ($4.36 million) Yonghui Brown Sugar Factory offers local sugar cane growers 450 yuan in exchange for every ton of sugar cane. Since its launch, the factory has allocated 18 million yuan for farmers to achieve its target of processing 40,000 tons of sugar cane by the end of spring 2017.
The factory initiated the juicing process in November and processes around 300 tons of sugar cane are every day.
