The Guizhou Forum of China Modern Timber Construction was held in Guiyang, Guizhou province on March 9, supported by the Canada Wood Association and the Guizhou provincial government. Overseas and native experts gathered together to share modern developments in timber construction and related regulations.
Modern timber buildings have great advantages over traditional ones in fireproofing, insect-proofing, earthquake resistance and convenient assembly. As a renewable resource, modern timber construction can be applied to both private houses and public facilities including schools, office buildings, shopping malls and landscape structures. Rongjiang Natatorium in Guizhou province exemplified the practical applications of modern timber construction on the forum.
Guizhou province has to balance economy and ecological environment. Therefore, modern timber construction turns out to be a terrific solution for poverty alleviation and an eco-friendly environment. Modern timber buildings successfully improve resident living conditions, and take far less time to build a house, providing better strategies for relocation and rural housing renovation.
