With a total investment of 6.2 billion yuan ($933 million), the cultural industry park China Dinosaur Island was put into construction on Oct 26 in Chishui city, Southwest China's Guizhou province.
China Dinosaur Island is a cultural industry park covering an area of 1,800 mu (120 hectares), including a dinosaur museum, Jurassic Period park, tourists distribution center, holiday hotels and a series of construction contents.
It is located next to Chishui Visitor Center and Chishui Danxia World Natural Heritage Exhibition Center, and is planned to be put into operation in 2022. Its first project Dinosaur's Happy Waterfront is expected to reach the annual tourist volume of 2 million and a highest instant tourist capacity of 17,640.
Chishui has more than 400,000 Alsophila Spinulosa, a type of ancient plant called "living fossil" with a long history of 180 million years, tracking back to the dinosaur period. With an area of 13,300 hectares, Chishui Alsophila Natural Reserve takes Alsophila Spinulosa and other national endangered species as its primary protected objects.
From January to October this year, Chishui accommodated 15 million tourists, achieving a tourism income of 16 billion yuan, a year-on-year growth of 35.35 percent and 36.32 percent, respectively.
