The tourism industry strengthened local economy by stacking up more than 15 million yuan ($2.26 million) in revenue in the first 10 months of this year in Gui'an New Area, a national demonstration area in Guizhou province, Guizhou Daily reported on Nov 30.
Rich with tourism resources and home to 22 national-level scenic spots, Gui'an New Area welcomed more than 2.45 million tourists and received 1.25 billion yuan in the first half of this year alone, up 20.5 percent and 25.6 percent from last year.
Profiting the accommodation and catering industry, more than 100 companies engage in tourism with hotels and convention centers to create more jobs for local people.
