The project, able to generate wind power of 50 megawatts, is invested by the Beijing-based Tianrun New Energy Investment Co Ltd. After two years' wind power testing, Qiaojia town reached the standard to set up the wind power station.
The project will be done in three stages with a total investment of 1.35 billion yuan ($213.3 million). The ongoing stages have received investment of 450 million yuan.
Wind power is the use of air flow through wind turbines to mechanically power generators to create electricity. As an alternative to burning fossil fuels, it is renewable and clean. Its net effects on the environment are far less problematic than those of nonrenewable power sources.
Potential wind energy resources will be explored and utilized after the project is completed. The wind power station will also improve the energy supply for the town and even for Tongren city, reducing pressure on the main electric grid.
Tianrun appreciates the ecological environment and the appropriate position for wind energy developing in Qiaojia town. In addition to the investment for wind power stations, the company donated 800,000 yuan for the town's poverty alleviation to help make a bright future for local residents.
In recent years, the town has constantly optimized the industrial structure to increase the income of residents through the construction of agricultural parks. The wind power project will be a push for future development.
Spacious meadows with an area of over 10,000 mu (666.67 hectares) make Qiaojia town a good place to explore wind energy. [Photo provided to chinadaily.com.cn] |
