Congjiang county is located in Qiandongnan Miao and Dong autonomous prefecture in the northeast part of Guizhou province, 450 kilometers away from the capital of Guiyang.
Occupying a land area of 3,244 square kilometers, the county is home to 320,000 people, most of them belonging to one of 19 ethnic groups, including Miao, Dong, Zhuang, Yao and Sui. Their unique and diverse ethnic cultures and customs are well preserved.
Xiaohuang village in the county was honored as the "home of Chinese folk culture and art" by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. Zhanli village is known as a fictitious land of peace. Zengchong Drum-tower in Wangdong village was included in the third batch of Major Historical and Cultural Sites Protected at the National Level.
