Jim Mullinax, consul general of the United States' embassy in Chengdu, visited Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, on Jan 13, and was impressed by Guiyang's achievements, especially in the big data industry.
Guiyang has been a sister city of Fort Worth, Texas since 2011. Over the past nine years, Guiyang and Fort Worth have maintained continuous communication in culture and education, which has laid the foundation for their deep friendship and partnership.
The visit will not only expand Guiyang's influence in the US, but also promote exchanges in education, culture, and medical care between the two sides.
Mullinax expressed wishes for more special events in 2020 by inviting experts and celebrities from the US to Guiyang for culture exchanges, which will enhance Guiyang's cultural exports.
Zhang Mingquan, head of the Guiyang foreign affairs office, invited Mullinax to attend the 2020 Eco Forum Global and Big Data Expo, which will be held in Guiyang.
Mullinax showed great interest in the invitation, especially the Eco Forum Global, which he has never attended. He added that he is willing to invite American experts and scholars to attend the forum and carry out extensive discussions.
