The earliest known jade and stoneware processing site dating back to the Neolithic Age in Yangtze Valley was found recently in Hangzhou, east China's Zhejiang Province.

The prehistoric processing site, called the Fangjiazhou Site, has a total area of between 1,200 square meters and 1,800 square meters. It is 60 meters from north to south and 20 to 30 meters from east to west. Judging from the relics unearthed, the Fangjiazhou Site dated back to between 5,300 and 5,900 years ago.
