Rare books from the private Guoyunlou Library of the Gu family in Suzhou, Jiangsu province, are on show at the National Library's Rare and Ancient Books Depository.
On display are 40 volumes of well-preserved Song Dynasty (AD 618-907) books with the general title of Miscellany of the Ten Thousand Flowers Valley (jinxiu wanhuagu).
These are a vital part of the Gu family's private library, an accumulation of more than 500 tomes of ancient books, 800 manuscripts, calligraphic copies and other various collections. After its Beijing debut, the exhibition will tour Hangzhou, Shanghai, Suzhou, and Nanjing.
