Hebei’s geothermal resources are mainly concentrated in the area north of Cangzhou and Xinle and the northern areas of the province.
Total usable geothermal resources are expected to reach 11.05 tons of coal equivalent, ranking third in the country, following Tibet autonomous region and Yunnan province.
Some 241 locations in the province have geothermal water, 92 in mountainous areas with temperatures ranging from 40 to 70 C and in the province’s plains with temperatures from 95 to 118 C.
Wind resource are mainly in Bashang and the coastal areas, while its biomass energy totals about 22.9 million tons of coal equivalent.
Available solar energy is abundant, second only to the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau with the annual sunshine of 2,950 to 3,100 hours and sunshine rate of 50 to 70 percent.
