The Wuhan-Guangzhou high-speed railway, arguably the world's fastest train journey at a speed of 350 kilometer per hour (km/h), started operations on Dec 26.
Two passenger trains rolled out of Wuhan Railway Station and Guangzhou North Railway Station and reached their respective terminals within three hours, compared with the previous 10-hour journey.
The service between Wuhan, the capital of central Hubei province, and Guangzhou, the capital of Guangdong province and a business hub in the southern region, started a trial run on Dec 9 and reached a speed of 394.2 km/h.
The Wuhan-Guangzhou Passenger Line reportedly has the longest mileage and the highest operating speed in the world.
Currently CRH3 and CRH2C,two types of electric multiple units (EMUs),are running on the Wuhan-Guangzhou railway.
Chen Liang,vice president of Tangshan Railway Vehicle Co, the manufacturer of CRH3, said the new models have a number of innovative features and incorporate the latest technology in the industry.
“CRH3 is a leader in its traction system, brake system and aerodynamic design”, he said. |
