When the head of the Hebei provincial People’s Congress and the Hebei governor met recently with some political advisers from Hong Kong and Macao, there was a call for the two southern administrative regions to do more for the province’s economic, social, and ecological development.

The comment was made when Zhang Qingli, the provincial People’s Congress head, and Zhang Qingwei, the governor, met overseas members of the Hebei Provincial Committee of the Chinese People’s Politicial Consultative Conference (CPPCC).

Zhang expressed the hope that the Hong Kong and Macao political advisors, who were in the provincial capital, Shijiazhuang, for an annual CPPCC session, could use their experiences and global influences to support the province’s development.

Fu Zhifang, head of the provincial committee of the CPPCC, said that his committee would improve communications with compatriots from HK, Macao, Taiwan and provide better services to the overseas advisers.

Yeung Chun Fan, general manager of the Glorious Sun Group and chairman of Jeanswest International (HK) Ltd, said he, based on his own expertise, would make suggestions on government policies and development strategies to aid the local efforts to build a harmonious, developed province.
