Buses in the city of Handan will be providing free Wi-Fi services to passengers, this month, on the No 808 line, which has 51 buses, all with a 3G wireless network systems, useful with mobile phones and tablet computers.
All the passengers have to do is enter the password. This will get more people to use the buses and they can enjoy the journey, according to the Wanhe Group, which is cooperating with China Unicom’s Handan branch to provide the free Wi-Fi service.
The Wanhe Group reports that the Wi-Fi service began operating on Aug 1. As the wireless signal improves, the company will cooperate more with China Unicom, with plans to install the wireless system on the six other bus lines. The cost is covered by the Wanhe Group and there will be no increase in ticket prices.
Cai Jie, the Handan Bus Co GM, said that passengers can also enjoy free Wi-Fi when waiting for the bus at bus stops since Handan has completed work on 40 electronic bus stops. Cai added that the electronic bus stops provide multi-media information and, by using the GPS system, passengers can get the information of the nearest buses.
China Mobile's Handan branch reports that they will have 100 more electronic bus stops near the railway station and in the city center, this year with fast Internet speed that people can connect to within 20 seconds.
One passenger remarked that he won’t get so bored now on the bus with the free Wi-Fi and his cell phone. |
