On May 19, north China’s Hebei province started a red tourism pilgrimage activity to celebrate the country’s first China Tourism Day. A ceremony was held at Li Dazhao Memorial Hall of Tangshan city to kick off the event.
Wang Xinyong, director of Hebei provincial tourism bureau, said at the opening ceremony that in recent years, Hebei has availed itself to the precious revolutionary cultural resources, and pushed forward a large group of red tourism scenic spots, such as the former site of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China at Xibaipo of Pingshan county, and Li Dazhao former residence and memorial hall at Leting. They are welcomed and supported by mass Party members and general public, particularly teen-agers. Wang said in the future, the province will continue to comprehensively and profoundly promote red tourism resources and revolutionary culture to attract more people to recall revolutionary deeds and go on sightseeing tours in red tourism scenic spots. The province hopes to set off a new upsurge in red tourism.
The event is a part of major activities of Hebei province to celebrate the 90th anniversary of founding of Communist Party of China. It comprises the opening ceremony of the red tourism pilgrimage, touring exhibition of red cities, Red Culture Charm Tour – Visit Baoding with Old Films, 2nd Red Tourism Theme Art Design Competition, grand Xibaipo tourism cultural festival, Hebei provincial red tourism pilgrimage closing ceremony, and design, manufacturing and release of red tourism publicity materials.
Sponsored by Hebei provincial tourism bureau and Tangshan municipal government, the activity is aimed at launching rich and colorful Tourism Day activities to attract and benefit the people, improve their tourism awareness, and arouse their tourism passions, on the basis of the province’s competitive red tourism resources.
