An Indian delegation headed to the Longmen Grottoes in Luoyang, Henan province, on Dec 16.
The delegation, led by Minister of External Affairs Vijay Kumar Singh, visited the main caves of the Grottoes including Fengxian Temple. They climbed East Hill to visit Xiangshan Temple, appreciating the world-famous heritage site.
Mr. Singh exchanged views with staff workers on cultural relics preservation, environmental protection and foreign cultural exchange. Standing in front of Fengxian Temple, he said that it is a great project with a beautiful giant Buddha, and shows the intelligence and wisdom of Chinese people.
Grottoes are part of Indian Buddhism. With the spread of Buddhist culture, stone cave temples were introduced to China over the Silk Road.
